In a sharp critique, BSP leader Mayawati accused the Samajwadi Party (SP) of being “two-faced,” charging that it only remembers Dalits when politically expedient. She claimed SP has neglected Dalit memorials, parks, and institutions, allowing them to decay from lack of upkeep.
Mayawati argued that SP’s sudden interest in Dalit icons is a calculated move to attract votes, rather than genuine concern for their welfare. She cited SP’s failure to maintain statues, rename institutions properly, and hold meaningful commemorations as evidence of betrayal.
She also took issue with SP’s commemorative events around the death anniversary of BSP founder Kanshi Ram, calling those efforts deceptive and opportunistic. Mayawati emphasized that the SP never declared state mourning when Kanshi Ram passed, yet now lays claim to his legacy.
