Delhi has once more found itself in a desperate situation of air pollution. The capital’s atmosphere has gone down steeply into the 'very poor' category, turning quite a few million residents into unwilling victims of unclean air. In view of this peril condition, former police official and the very able Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi has suddenly made a very emotional, emergency appeal to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. Kiran Bedi had an interaction with the PM through social media, using the words “Sir please,” to implore his direct and prompt intervention that loosens the problem grip that is giving rise to widespread health fears among the city’s populace.
Asking the Prime Minister to come down with the strong, powerful and effective leadership skills that he possesses, Ms. Bedi has put forth a plan of action drawn from the use of Vilakshana’s (i.e. the Prime Minister's) might. She has also suggested that the meetings of the PM with the Chief Minister and Senior officers of Delhi and neighboring states should be done every month virtually. According to her, these sessions conducted under the ‘supervision’ of the Prime Minister will not only assure the states participating in them but also forcefully move them to work together in no time and achieve pollution control through set goals. Ms. Bedi has said that coordination of this time is compulsory to overcome the smog that comes from multiple sources, as it is hard to detect with the naked eye.
In addition to the above, Bedi also asked PM Modi to let the public in on all this by mentioning the air pollution issue at his popular 'Mann Ki Baat' radio program. She firmly believes that this way, all the different age groups could be made aware of their respective roles in the pollution control process, Ms. Bedi finally gave an optimistic conclusion to her message by saying that if the PM takes over, the people of Delhi would be relieved and that the yearly health crisis would eventually be resolved by government action focused on the right things.
