Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while inaugurating the UP International Trade Show (UPITS) 2025, highlighted that India continues to grow steadily despite global uncertainties and economic disruptions. He stressed the importance of self-reliance, stating that India must focus on producing within the country everything it has the capability to manufacture.
PM Modi underlined the government’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment, simplifying complex regulations, and removing outdated laws that previously hindered industries and entrepreneurs. He said India aims to develop its capacity to produce everything “from chips to ships,” boosting domestic manufacturing and reducing dependency on imports.
Focusing on defense production, Modi emphasized that India’s armed forces are increasingly relying on indigenous equipment. He mentioned the upcoming production of AK-203 rifles with Russian collaboration and the ongoing manufacturing of BrahMos missiles under the Uttar Pradesh Defense Corridor project.
The Prime Minister also welcomed Russia’s participation in UPITS, noting that it would strengthen the long-standing partnership between the two nations.
Modi’s remarks came amid growing concerns over global trade tensions, tariff policies, and issues related to H-1B visas. He asserted that India remains resilient and determined to achieve economic growth by promoting innovation and “Make in India” initiatives despite these challenges.
