Desk Correspondent , Mumbai - In a dramatic conclusion to the ninth season of Bigg Boss Tamil, television actor Divya Ganesh has been crowned the winner, making her only the second wild card entrant in the show’s history to lift the prestigious trophy. The grand finale, hosted by Vijay Sethupathi on January 18, 2026, saw Divya edge out strong contenders to claim the ₹50 lakh cash prize and a brand-new SUV. Entering the house on Day 28, Divya overcame early skepticism and multiple nominations to build a massive fan base through her resilient and honest gameplay, ultimately securing the highest number of public votes.

The final showdown came down to Divya and Sabari Nathan, the latter of whom finished as the first runner-up. Sabari was widely praised for his steady transformation and dignified conduct throughout the 105-day journey, but he couldn't surpass the momentum Divya had gained in the final weeks. Popular contestant Vikkals Vikram secured the second runner-up spot, while Aurora Sinclair, who had won the "Ticket to Finale," finished in fourth place. During the emotional trophy presentation, Divya reflected on her journey, stating, "I never thought a wild card could dream this big... people showered love on me for being me."

Host Vijay Sethupathi, presiding over his second season finale, earned applause for his balanced handling of the intense competition and for honoring all finalists with special awards. The season, which premiered on October 5, 2025, with 20 contestants and 4 wild cards, was noted for its high-voltage drama, including two rare "red card" ejections. With Divya’s victory, the "wild card jinx" has been firmly broken once again, following in the footsteps of Season 7 winner Archana Ravichandran. As the curtains fall on Season 9, Divya’s rise from a mid-season underdog to the ultimate champion is being hailed as one of the most inspiring arcs in the show’s history.
