The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for several districts in Kerala, warning of heavy rainfall in the coming days. The alert has been placed for Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, and Malappuram districts, where downpours are expected to intensify.
Authorities have advised residents in hilly and low-lying regions to remain cautious due to the possibility of landslides, waterlogging, and rising river levels. Fishermen have also been urged to avoid venturing into the sea as rough weather conditions are likely.
The state disaster management authority has put local bodies on high alert and instructed them to prepare relief measures if the rain continues to increase. Emergency control rooms have been set up to monitor the situation.
With Kerala already experiencing intermittent heavy showers this monsoon season, officials say people should stay updated on weather forecasts and follow safety instructions closely.
