Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh has hit out at ex-IPL chairman Lalit Modi after the controversial “slapgate” video surfaced online. The video, which shows the infamous 2008 altercation between Harbhajan and Sreesanth, has reignited debate more than a decade later.
Harbhajan accused Modi of releasing the clip with a “selfish motive,” suggesting that the timing and manner of its leak raised serious questions. He stated that while the incident was a low point in his career, he had already accepted responsibility and moved on, making the renewed circulation unnecessary.
The veteran spinner also highlighted that bringing back such episodes only hurts the players involved and the image of Indian cricket. He added that the focus should be on celebrating the game rather than raking up old controversies.
The resurfacing of the video has drawn sharp reactions from fans and former cricketers alike, with many agreeing that the matter had long been settled and did not warrant fresh controversy.
