Delhi-NCR is currently grappling with severe rain chaos, causing widespread disruption across the capital. Heavy rainfall has led major airlines, including Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet, to issue urgent advisories to their passengers.
Travellers flying to or from Delhi today are warned of potential flight delays and disruptions due to the adverse weather conditions, which include waterlogging and low visibility. Passengers are strongly advised to check their flight status online and allow ample extra time for their journey to the airport.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has intensified its warning, placing the capital under a yellow alert, forecasting thunderstorms with lightning and moderate to heavy showers. Delhi recorded an astonishing 399.8 mm of rainfall in August 2025, making it the wettest August in 15 years. The entire monsoon season this year has proven exceptionally intense, with June also seeing rainfall three times its normal average. Travellers are urged to plan carefully amidst these challenging conditions.
