Delhi Police have heightened security measures ahead of Independence Day celebrations, implementing restrictions on bird feeding around the Red Fort to safeguard helicopters participating in the event.
Officials stated that the move aims to prevent birds from congregating in the area, as bird strikes pose a significant risk to helicopters involved in the ceremonial fly-past and surveillance operations. Feeders and vendors in nearby localities have been instructed to avoid scattering grains or food items until the event concludes.
Security around the Red Fort and surrounding zones has been tightened with multi-layered checks, deployment of snipers, and installation of advanced surveillance systems. Anti-drone units have also been positioned to prevent aerial threats.
Traffic restrictions will be in place on August 15, and entry into certain areas will require valid passes or ID verification. Police have urged the public to cooperate with security personnel and report any suspicious activities.
The measures are part of a broader security plan involving the Delhi Police, paramilitary forces, and intelligence agencies to ensure a safe and incident-free celebration
