Special Correspondent , Karachi - Pakistan finds itself drenched in blood yet again. With each passing day, extremist and separatist outfits like Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) are becoming a mounting headache for the nation’s security establishment. In the dead of night, TTP militants launched a brutal assault on a Pakistani military post near the Afghanistan border, leaving six soldiers dead.

According to sources, heavily armed TTP operatives stormed an army installation in Kurram district of northwest Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The insurgents opened indiscriminate fire, triggering a fierce gun battle. Pakistani soldiers retaliated immediately, leading to an intense exchange of bullets that resulted in the deaths of five soldiers, with four others critically injured and rushed to a nearby military hospital. As of now, it remains unclear whether any of the attackers were killed during the confrontation.
Notably, since January this year, attacks carried out by Baloch insurgents in Balochistan have already claimed nearly 450 lives, most of them security personnel. In April, Pakistani forces had neutralised 54 TTP fighters in an operation in Waziristan, signalling the escalating scale of conflict across the region.Pakistan continues to grapple with a deepening internal security crisis, one that increasingly resembles a low-intensity civil war.
