Mumbai, Aug 14 — The makers of Border 2 have released the first look of the highly anticipated war drama, featuring Sunny Deol in a fierce soldier avatar. The poster shows Deol aiming a bazooka on the battlefield, capturing the intense patriotic spirit the franchise is known for.
Originally slated for a 2026 Independence Day release, the film’s premiere has now been moved to January 23, 2026, to coincide with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary. Producers said the change aims to honour Bose’s legacy while giving the team additional time for production work.
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is the sequel to J.P. Dutta’s 1997 blockbuster Border, which depicted the Battle of Longewala during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. The new film is expected to blend large-scale war sequences with emotional storytelling, highlighting the sacrifices of Indian soldiers.
Filming is set to begin later this year, with more cast details to be announced soon. Fans have taken to social media to share their excitement, calling the first look “powerful” and “nostalgia-inducing.”
