New Delhi, August 19 — More than 50 schools across the national capital received bomb threat emails on Monday morning, triggering panic among parents, students, and authorities. This is the second such incident within a week, raising concerns over the safety of educational institutions in the city.
The Delhi Police confirmed that multiple schools reported receiving identical emails warning of explosives planted on campuses. Following protocol, buildings were immediately evacuated and bomb disposal squads, along with local police units, were deployed for thorough checks. So far, no explosives have been found.
“Teams are scanning every location, and initial assessments suggest this could be a hoax. However, we are treating each alert with full seriousness,” a senior police officer said.
Parents rushed to pick up their children, leading to traffic congestion outside several schools. Authorities emphasized that while no threat has been verified, such incidents disrupt academic schedules and create widespread fear.
Last week, several schools in Delhi had faced similar threats that also turned out to be false alarms. The repeated nature of the warnings has led police to suspect a coordinated attempt to spread panic. Cyber experts are assisting in tracing the origin of the emails.
Officials said schools will reopen after security clearance, and additional patrolling has been ordered around sensitive areas. The Delhi government has appealed to citizens to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement.
