A 22-year-old engineering student, Jeevan Gowda, was arrested on October 15, 2025, for allegedly raping his senior inside a men's washroom at a private engineering college in Bengaluru. The incident occurred on October 10, but the survivor, a seventh-semester student, reported it five days later after confiding in her parents.
According to the police, both the survivor and the accused were acquainted, having studied together previously. On the day of the incident, Jeevan called the survivor to meet him near the architecture block during lunch break. Upon her arrival, he reportedly attempted to kiss her. When she resisted and tried to leave, he allegedly dragged her to the men's washroom on the sixth floor, locked the door, and raped her between 1:30 and 1:50 PM. During the assault, he also seized her phone.
The survivor later informed two friends, who encouraged her to report the incident. She subsequently filed a formal complaint at the Hanumanthanagar Police Station. Police are currently investigating the case, though the lack of CCTV footage on the floor has complicated evidence collection. Forensic teams are examining digital and physical evidence to support the investigation.
