Ananya Lohia , Delhi - Veteran playback singer Alka Yagnik will be honoured with the prestigious Padma Bhushan at a civil investiture ceremony in New Delhi on Monday. President Droupadi Murmu will present the award at the Ganatantra Mandap in Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Expressing her happiness ahead of the ceremony, Alka Yagnik thanked the Government of India and her fans for their constant support and love. The singer, known for timeless hits like Ek Do Teen and Tip Tip Barsa Paani, said she feels grateful to receive the prestigious honour. The 60-year-old singer is currently recovering from an illness and had recently shared that she is still suffering but remains hopeful. This year’s Padma Awards list includes 131 personalities from different fields, with 66 awardees receiving honours during today’s ceremony. Among the prominent personalities being honoured are Mammootty, Vijay Amritraj, Uday Kotak and Bhagat Singh Koshyari. Veteran actor Dharmendra has also been posthumously honoured with the Padma Vibhushan. In the Padma Shri category, sportspersons including Rohit Sharma, Harmanpreet Kaur, Savita Punia and Praveen Kumar will also receive honours.
