3,000 Drones to Light Up Kolkata Tonight

Ananya Lohia , Kolkata - Ahead of International Yoga Day, Kolkata is gearing up for a spectacular aerial display tonight as 3,000 drones illuminate the city's skyline over the Hooghly River as part of the Vande Yogam and West Bengal Day celebrations.

The synchronised drone show, scheduled to begin at 8 pm, is expected to be one of the largest ever witnessed in Kolkata. The drones will create yoga-inspired formations in the night sky while narrating the journey of yoga and its deep-rooted connection with India. The display will also pay tribute to renowned yoga masters. The riverfront is set to turn festive with cultural programmes, laser shows, sand art and photo booths at key locations.

Residents and visitors will be able to witness the spectacle from Millennium Park, Babughat and areas around Belur Math. The grand drone show serves as a curtain-raiser for Sunday's International Yoga Day celebrations, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to lead a mass yoga session at Red Road. Organisers are also planning a Guinness World Record attempt with 500 boats on the Hooghly hosting synchronised yoga performances.

With thousands of drones set to paint the Kolkata sky tonight, the city is preparing for a unique blend of technology, culture and wellness ahead of the nationwide Yoga Day celebrations
