A Jaipur court has granted bail to a woman accused in a hit and run case that led to the death of a retired army officer earlier this week. The incident sparked outrage among local residents who demanded strict action against the accused.
According to police, the retired officer was crossing the road when he was hit by a speeding car driven by the woman. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The driver fled the scene but was later tracked down and arrested.
During the hearing, the woman’s lawyer argued that the incident was unintentional and that she cooperated with the investigation once apprehended. The court granted her bail on certain conditions, including regular appearances before authorities as required.
The family of the deceased officer expressed disappointment over the bail decision and reiterated their demand for justice. Several ex servicemen groups have also raised concerns about road safety and the rising number of reckless driving cases in Jaipur.
Police officials confirmed that the investigation is still ongoing and the final chargesheet will be filed after gathering all necessary evidence. Meanwhile, the case continues to draw attention as citizens call for stricter measures to curb negligent driving.
