Desk Correspondent , Islamabad – Pakistan is willing to host the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt in Islamabad on March 29 and 30, 2026, for crucial talk focused on de-escalating of the ongoing conflict in West Asia involving the United States, Iran and Israel. Also, the Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation which lasted over an hour. The context of the phone conversation has been revealed to be a discussion over the ongoing regional hostilities and efforts to restore peace, according to the Pakistan PM Office.
In the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty are planning to hold important discussions on regional peace efforts and ways to reduce tensions. The visiting dignitaries are also scheduled to call on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during the two-day visit. This quadrilateral meeting follows a recent telephonic conversation between Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Sharif, where both leaders emphasised the importance of dialogue, mutual trust, and diplomatic outreach to restore stability in the region.
The initiative comes after Pakistan publicly offered to facilitate direct peace talks between the US and Iran for a comprehensive settlement of the Middle East crisis. On March 24, Sharif stated on social media that Islamabad is ready and honoured to host “meaningful and conclusive talks,” subject to concurrence from Washington and Tehran. US President Donald Trump acknowledged Sharif’s post by sharing a screenshot on Truth Social, though the White House downplayed immediate expectations. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt clarified that “no meeting should be considered final until officially announced”. The talks highlights Pakistan is will to act in an active diplomatic role as a potential bridge amid the uneasy West Asia conflict.
