Desk Correspondent , New Delhi - Two friends returning home after watching an Indian Premier League (IPL) match were killed on the spot when a speeding car allegedly rammed into their motorcycle in Northeast Delhi late on Friday night. The tragic incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Khajuri Khas Flyover, where the victims were riding a bike soon after descending from the flyover. Police said the impact of the collision was severe, leaving both riders dead instantly. The deceased have been identified as Hemat Tiwari and Rohit, also known as Sonu. Authorities reached the spot promptly after receiving information, shifted the bodies for post-mortem examination, and initiated further investigation into the case.
According to initial police reports, the car was moving at high speed when it hit the motorcycle. No arrests have been reported so far, and details about the vehicle or driver remain under probe. The accident has once again highlighted concerns over reckless driving on Delhi roads, particularly during late-night hours after major sporting events. Eyewitnesses or CCTV footage from the area are being examined to identify the offending vehicle and establish the sequence of events. Police have registered a case and are treating it as a serious road mishap.
This incident comes close on the heels of a similar tragedy on April 28, when two cousins, Yagya Bhatia (20) and Abhav Bhatia (14), lost their lives in a road accident on Ashok Road while returning from an IPL match. In that case, the younger brother was reportedly on a call with their father moments before the crash. Road safety experts have called for stricter enforcement of speed limits and better lighting around flyovers to prevent such fatalities. Delhi Police have appealed to the public for any information that could help trace the vehicle involved in Friday's accident.
