Desk Correspondent , New Delhi - A one-and-a-half-year-old boy, was kidnapped from the crowded Chandni Chowk area in North Delhi on 19 April, was successfully rescued by the Delhi Police following a rigorous five-day search operation. On Monday, officials confirmed the arrest of the kidnapper, identified as Mohammad Firoz, who allegedly snatched the child by offering him eatables. The toddler has since been reunited with his family, physically unharmed but undergoing medical evaluation.
The investigation utilized an extensive network of CCTV cameras to track the suspect’s movements through the thine lanes of Old Delhi and toward the outskirts of the city. According to police reports, the breakthrough came when a specific tip-off led investigators to a hideout in a neighboring locality. The suspect, an e-rickshaw driver recruited by a women who reportedly intended to sell the child in another state, though authorities are still investigating if this is a part of a larger human trafficking syndicate.
In his statement Firoz identified Kali to be master mind behind all this. According to the DCP "Firoz told police that the woman had promised to pay him ₹20,000 to keep the child for a few days, after which she intended to sell the toddler to a prospective buyer." Although Police still don't know how much of it is believable since Firoz is an ex-convict with involving nine cases related to theft and the Arms Act. Police is trying to track down the female accomplice suspected to be from Siliguri, West Bengal.
