Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has unveiled the trailer of his upcoming movie The Bengal Files, which he says is based on incidents of violence and displacement that have not been widely discussed.
The trailer gives a glimpse of the film’s attempt to depict stories of suffering and unrest from Bengal’s past. Agnihotri, who earlier directed The Kashmir Files, has described this new project as an effort to bring forward what he calls a buried chapter of history.
The visuals show intense portrayals of victims and survivors, with the narrative promising to highlight social and political turmoil. The director has positioned the film as a tribute to those whose stories have remained outside mainstream discourse.
The Bengal Files has already sparked debate on social media, with some welcoming it as a bold attempt to present forgotten truths while others have raised questions about its portrayal of sensitive issues.
The film is expected to release later this year and will likely draw significant attention given the response to Agnihotri’s previous work.
