Desk Correspondent , Mumbai - Actor Siddharth Gupta recently opened up about the emotional and challenging journey of playing Lord Krishna in Krishnavataram Part 1: Hridayam. Directed by Hardik Gajjar, the film released on May 7, 2026, and has been receiving positive audience response and strong word-of-mouth. Inspired by the Brahma Vaivarta Purana, the movie explores Lord Krishna’s life, relationships and spiritual journey.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Siddharth revealed that portraying Lord Krishna came with immense pressure and responsibility. Although he had not watched earlier portrayals by actors like Nitish Bharadwaj and Sourabh Raaj Jain, he feared not doing justice to such an iconic character. To prepare for the role, he spent months reading extensively about Lord Krishna every day. The actor also admitted that his first day on set was emotionally overwhelming. He struggled with self-doubt and found it difficult to adjust to the scale of the production and costume-heavy scenes. However, encouragement from director Hardik Gajjar helped him gain confidence and settle into the role.
Before Krishnavataram Part 1: Hridayam, Siddharth faced several career setbacks despite gaining fame through the song Vaaste alongside Dhvani Bhanushali. He shared that many projects were delayed or cancelled during the pandemic, including a major three-year deal with a prominent filmmaker that collapsed just 1 week before shooting.
Looking back, Siddharth says he no longer regrets those setbacks and believes everything happened for a reason. He feels Krishnavataram Part 1: Hridayam became a turning point in his career and a much bigger opportunity than the projects he lost. The actor expressed gratitude for the audience’s love and described the film’s success as a collective victory for the entire team.
