Actress Shilpa Shetty has vehemently denied reports alleging that her husband, Raj Kundra, transferred ₹15 crore to her in connection with a fraud case being investigated by Mumbai's Economic Offences Wing (EOW). In an official statement released on Friday, Shetty's legal team described these reports as "totally fake and mischievous." The statement further emphasized that Shetty has approached the Bombay High Court seeking relief against what it termed a "defamatory campaign" targeting her.
The legal team also indicated plans to initiate both criminal and civil proceedings against the media outlets responsible for disseminating these false claims. The controversy stems from an ongoing investigation into a ₹60 crore cheating case involving Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty. The EOW is probing allegations that the couple, along with others, duped businessman Deepak Kothari in a loan-cum-investment deal related to their now-defunct company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd. Raj Kundra has reportedly claimed that part of the ₹60 crore was paid to actors Bipasha Basu and Neha Dhupia, and producer Ekta Kapoor as professional fees.
In response to the allegations, Shetty's legal team has stated that no such amount was ever received by her and that they are committed to pursuing legal action against those spreading false information. The team also reiterated Shetty's commitment to cooperating with investigative agencies while asserting her right to protect her reputation through legal means.
