Nepal’s Prime Minister Balendra Shah has spoken in Parliament about the long-standing border dispute between Nepal and India over areas like Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura, and Kalapani.
Shah said that both countries should avoid conflict and instead solve the issue through peaceful discussions. He suggested that experts from both sides should carefully study old maps, records, and survey documents to understand the real boundary situation.
He also mentioned that there have been different claims from both Nepal and India over time, which has made the issue complicated. According to him, arguments will not help, and dialogue is the only way forward.
Some lawmakers supported his statement, saying that talks are the best way to maintain good relations with neighboring countries. However, a few others said Nepal should strongly defend its territorial claims while talking to India.
The disputed regions lie between Nepal and India and have been under discussion for many years due to different historical interpretations of boundaries.
Shah stressed that Nepal wants friendly relations with its neighbors and believes that peace and cooperation are more important than confrontation. He added that both countries should work together to find a fair and lasting solution to the issue through diplomatic channels.
