Manipur Governor Praises Security Forces for Maintaining Law and Order Amid Challenges

Desk Correspondent , Imphal - Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Wednesday lauded the security forces for standing as "pillars of strength" while operating under extremely demanding conditions to restore peace and stability in the violence-hit state. Speaking at the investiture ceremony for the Governor's Unit Citation 2026, Bhalla highlighted their dedication, courage, and tireless efforts in upholding law and order and rebuilding public confidence.

The Governor presented citations to several outstanding units of the Army, Assam Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Border Roads Task Force (BRTF), and Manipur district police in recognition of their exemplary service. Referring to the state's recent challenges, Bhalla stated that the forces worked relentlessly despite difficulties, maintaining restraint and using force judiciously, which has significantly aided the return of normalcy. He also acknowledged the sacrifices of the personnel's families, whose support has been crucial to their success. The ceremony honoured collective excellence, teamwork, discipline, and commitment to duty among the recipients, including 19 Garhwal Rifles, multiple Assam Rifles battalions, 2 Mahar Regiment, 25 BRTF, various district police units, 10 BSF, and 143 CRPF.

Manipur Chief Minister also addressed the gathering, stressing the need for public cooperation to strengthen community bonding alongside security efforts. The event underscored the pivotal role of armed forces in the state's ongoing peace process, as authorities continue to focus on long-term stability following years of ethnic tensions. Governor Bhalla's remarks reflect growing optimism about the security situation, even as challenges persist in fostering harmony among diverse communities.
