Ananya Lohia , Delhi - As the Indian Premier League 2026 continues to capture attention across the country, a dramatic off-field moment has grabbed headlines, involving South African bowler, who plays for Delhi Capitals in the IPL, suffered a nasty fall against Punjab Kings on this Saturday, April 25, 2026. ACP Sanjay Singh, who has shared the field with Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli, ensured he reached hospital as soon as possible, even less than half the usual time.
According to reports, Ngidi required urgent medical attention, and navigating through heavy city traffic could have caused critical delays. Stepping in at the right moment, the police officer—who has a background in professional cricket—used his experience and presence of mind to take control of the situation.
By coordinating with traffic control systems and on-ground personnel, he effectively cleared congestion and triggered a green corridor, from Feroz Shah Kotla to BLK Max Hospital in Rajender Nagar after a heavy on-field fall during the match. Ngidi fell on his neck and head while attempting a catch at mid-off during the clash. As soon as ACP saw the seriousness of the fall, all started thinking how to take the ambulance without any fuss and ACP also told that he also been used to play cricket, and know the situations when things can turn very bad due to an on-field injury.
The decision to make a green corridor was taken on the spot. A veteran of more than two decades with Delhi Traffic Police, ACP leaned on his knowledge of the city and overruled the algorithm. The ACP make sure that they didn't get stuck in the traffic and asked the control room and told them they are moving and control room relayed quickly and make every major junction on the way empty. As green corridor are usually reserved for organ transport or extreme emergencies, and often planned in advance. This was the first time that a green corridor was executed so quickly. Many officers are included to execute this movement successfully. They kept connecting with ACP and kept coordinating on their wireless sets to make sure there was no blockage anywhere.
Ngidi was admitted to the emergency ward and reported stable following scans and examination. He was discharged from the hospital later that night. His team Delhi Capitals confirmed through social media that he is stable and will be discharged from the hospital soon. Ngidi himself posted in social media and confirmed he is okay and thank everyone for their wishes.
