Shivani Jaiswal ,Kolkata- TMC leader and Member of Parliament Abhishek Banerjee faced a security scare on Saturday when unidentified individuals allegedly threw eggs during his visit to a public gathering in West Bengal. The incident occurred while Banerjee was interacting with local residents and party supporters.
The situation became tense after a group of protesters gathered near the event venue and started shouting slogans. Moments later, eggs were reportedly thrown in the direction of the TMC leader, causing brief chaos among the crowd. Security personnel immediately formed a protective cordon around Banerjee and moved him to a safer area.
No injuries were reported, and the meeting continued after a short interruption. Party workers condemned the incident, describing it as an attempt to disrupt a peaceful political program. They demanded strict action against those responsible for the attack.
Speaking after the event, Banerjee said that such incidents would not stop him from meeting people and addressing public concerns. He urged supporters to remain calm and avoid any form of retaliation. Political leaders from different parties exchanged accusations over the incident, with each side blaming the other for creating tension in the region.
The episode has once again highlighted the intense political rivalry in West Bengal, where confrontations between rival party workers are not uncommon. Local authorities have started reviewing video footage and gathering information from witnesses to identify those involved.
