New Delhi, August 25 – The Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out searches on Monday at premises linked to Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj in connection with an alleged irregularities case related to the construction of a hospital.
Officials said the raids were part of an ongoing investigation into financial transactions connected to the project. While the ED has not released detailed findings, sources indicated that documents and digital records were examined during the operation.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) strongly criticized the move, calling the case politically motivated. In a statement, the party said, “This is a fake case created to target our leaders. The people of Delhi know that these actions are being used to harass those who speak against the central government.”
Bharadwaj, who currently holds key responsibilities in the Delhi government, has denied any wrongdoing. Party leaders claimed that the timing of the raids was aimed at diverting attention from governance issues at the national level.
The hospital project under scrutiny was announced as part of Delhi’s broader push to strengthen public healthcare infrastructure. Investigators allege there may have been financial irregularities in its execution, though no official charges have yet been filed.
The raids have once again sharpened the political divide between AAP and the Centre, with both sides trading accusations. Analysts suggest that the issue could escalate further if fresh evidence is made public or additional leaders come under investigation.
