A bizarre incident unfolded at a Delhi car showroom when a woman attempting to perform a traditional lemon-crushing ritual with her brand-new Mahindra Thar accidentally toppled the SUV off the ramp.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman, accompanied by her family, had come to take delivery of the vehicle. As part of the custom, a lemon is usually placed under the wheel and crushed to ward off bad luck. However, in the process of driving over the lemon, she reportedly accelerated more than intended, causing the Thar to lose balance and tumble off the edge of the showroom ramp.
The vehicle sustained significant damage to its front and side, though fortunately, no injuries were reported. Staff members and onlookers rushed to the spot, shocked at how quickly the celebratory moment turned into chaos.
Showroom representatives have assured the family that the matter will be handled as per policy, though it remains unclear whether insurance will cover the damages since the accident happened at the point of delivery.
The incident has since gone viral on social media, sparking a mix of amusement and sympathy. Many users pointed out the risks of performing rituals in confined spaces like showrooms, while others advised that such customs be carried out more carefully outside.
The unusual mishap has now become a cautionary tale for car buyers celebrating new deliveries.
