The Asia Cup 2025 final has sparked a new controversy after India’s win against Pakistan in Dubai. Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has urged Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi not to hand over the trophy to India, calling the Indian team’s conduct “third-rate.”
Ali stated that while India may be the No.1 ranked team, their actions during the presentation ceremony showed disrespect. He suggested that Naqvi should keep the trophy rather than present it, especially if India refuses to receive it directly from him.
The issue arose when India declined to accept the trophy from Naqvi during the post-match ceremony. Only individual awards were distributed, while the main trophy remained unpresented and was later removed by Naqvi himself. The incident quickly escalated into a diplomatic flashpoint in cricketing ties.
