Ananya Lohia , Mumbai - After a successful theatrical run, Akshay Kumar’s horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla is all set to make its digital debut. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film will begin streaming on Netflix from June 12. Netflix announced the release date on social media, generating excitement among fans eager to revisit the film. Several users welcomed the announcement, with many expressing enthusiasm about watching the movie again on the streaming platform. Some also enquired about dubbed versions in South Indian languages.
Released in theatres on April 16, Bhooth Bangla received mixed reviews but performed well at the box office. According to trade website Sacnilk, the film collected ₹181.93 crore net in India and ₹269.22 crore worldwide during its 55-day theatrical run. The film follows siblings Arjun, played by Akshay Kumar, and Meera, played by Mithila Palkar, who inherit an ancestral palace. Arjun decides to host his sister's destination wedding there, unaware of the legend of Vadhusur, an evil entity that abducts brides and has prevented marriages in the town for years. The decision triggers a series of supernatural and comedic events.

Apart from Akshay Kumar, the film features Paresh Rawal, Jisshu Sengupta, Rajpal Yadav, Tabu and Wamiqa Gabbi in key roles. The film marks the reunion of Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar, who previously delivered popular hits such as Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhag, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, De Dana Dan and Khatta Meetha.
With its blend of horror and comedy, Bhooth Bangla found a strong audience in theatres and is now gearing up for a wider reach on OTT. Meanwhile, Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar have already completed work on Haiwaan, a remake of the Malayalam hit Oppam, which is expected to release in August.
