A tragic incident unfolded at Bangkok’s Safari World when lions attacked and killed a zookeeper in full view of shocked visitors. The incident occurred during routine duties inside the enclosure, where the staff member was reportedly carrying out maintenance work.
Eyewitnesses said the lions suddenly turned aggressive, leaving the zookeeper with little chance to escape. Despite the immediate intervention of other staff members, the injuries proved fatal. Tourists present at the time described the scene as terrifying, with many left traumatised after witnessing the attack.
Authorities have since sealed off the lion enclosure and launched an investigation to determine how the incident occurred. Initial reports suggest there may have been a lapse in safety protocols, though officials have not released a detailed statement yet.
The management of Safari World has expressed deep sorrow over the loss and assured that stricter measures will be implemented to prevent such tragedies in the future. Animal rights groups, while saddened by the incident, have reiterated the importance of enforcing higher safety standards in facilities where humans and wild animals interact.
The horrifying attack has sparked debate over the risks of close human-animal encounters in captivity and the safety of staff working in such environments.
