Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has appealed to the United States and European nations to impose stronger sanctions on Russia following a new wave of overnight missile and drone attacks. The strikes targeted several regions, causing damage to infrastructure and leaving many residents without power.

Zelensky said that sanctions remain one of the most effective tools to pressure Moscow, stressing that Russia must face greater isolation for continuing its aggression. He urged Western allies to tighten restrictions on Russian industries, finances, and defense supply chains.

The Ukrainian leader also highlighted the resilience of his country’s air defenses, which intercepted a number of incoming threats, but warned that continued support from international partners is essential to safeguard civilians and critical infrastructure.

Analysts noted that Zelensky’s renewed call for sanctions reflects Ukraine’s push to keep global attention focused on the conflict as it enters a prolonged phase.
