Bhubaneswar, August 23 — A YouTuber lost his life after being swept away while filming at a waterfall in Odisha, with the tragic incident caught on camera. The accident took place in Gajapati district on Friday, police confirmed.
According to officials, the 24-year-old content creator, identified as a resident of Berhampur, had gone with friends to record videos at the scenic Daringbadi waterfall. While attempting to pose near the water, he slipped and was pulled in by the strong current. His friends tried to rescue him but were unable to reach in time.
The chilling video of the incident, which has since circulated online, shows him struggling against the flow before disappearing from sight. Authorities have appealed to the public not to share or sensationalize the footage.
Police and local rescue teams launched an immediate search operation, and the body was later recovered downstream. The YouTuber was reportedly known for lifestyle and travel vlogs, and his death has left subscribers and locals in shock.
Officials said the accident highlights the risks of venturing too close to waterfalls during the monsoon season, when water levels are unpredictable. “We urge tourists and vloggers to maintain safe distance from water bodies, especially while creating content,” a district official stated.
The body has been sent for post-mortem, and a case of accidental death has been registered.
