New Delhi – Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday held her first Jan Sunwai (public grievance hearing) since the recent attack on her convoy, with authorities deploying heightened security around the venue.
The interaction saw citizens raise issues related to civic amenities, health services, and law enforcement. Officials said additional barricades, quick response teams, and senior police officers were stationed in and around the CM’s residence to ensure smooth proceedings.
The attack earlier this month, in which unidentified miscreants hurled stones at Gupta’s convoy, had prompted widespread political reactions and calls for stronger security measures. Police have since intensified investigations and stepped up surveillance in sensitive areas.
Despite the concerns, the CM assured residents that public interactions would not be curtailed. “People’s voices must be heard directly. Security is important, but engagement with citizens is my foremost responsibility,” she said.
Political observers noted that the public outreach marks an attempt by the Chief Minister to balance citizen connect with safety concerns, as her administration faces scrutiny over law and order in the capital.
