Swapna Kumbar , Bengaluru - U.S. and Iranian officials held separate, mediator-led meetings in Doha and agreed to keep the talks going, according to reports from Qatar and the parties involved. The discussions did not include direct U.S.-Iran negotiations in the same room, but both sides signaled that consultations would continue.
Qatar said the American delegation met with mediators rather than Iranian officials, while Iranian representatives also spoke separately with the Qatari side and Pakistan-linked mediators. The talks reportedly focused on implementing the memorandum of understanding, including questions around frozen Iranian assets and other outstanding provisions. Qatari officials said technical-level conversations would continue and could later be elevated if progress is made.
Reports said the two sides agreed to continue discussions over the coming period and to schedule the next meeting as soon as possible. That suggests the Doha track remains alive even though no direct breakthrough was announced. For now, the diplomacy appears to be moving through separate meetings, with mediators still carrying the burden of bridging the gap between Washington and Tehran.
The Doha meetings did not produce a final deal, but they did keep the process moving. Both sides appear to have accepted that more talks are needed, and the next round could follow once the current ceremonial and political constraints ease.
