Ananya Lohia , Delhi - The Tamil Nadu government has deputed senior IPS officer Santosh Hadimani to Vietnam to speed up the repatriation of the mortal remains of 10 victims from the state who lost their lives in the Phu Quoc boat tragedy.

The boat capsized off Vietnam's Phu Quoc coast on July 11, claiming the lives of 15 Indian tourists, including 10 from Tamil Nadu, three from Andhra Pradesh and two from Kerala. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin reviewed the situation and directed officials to work closely with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Vietnam to ensure the swift return of the victims' bodies and provide assistance to those injured.

Hadimani has been sent to Ho Chi Minh City to coordinate with embassy officials and local authorities. The Tamil Nadu government said it is making every effort to support the affected families during this difficult time.

Political leaders across party lines, including Governor R.N. Ravi, DMK MP Kanimozhi, AIADMK chief Edappadi K. Palaniswami and BJP state president Nainar Nagendran, expressed their condolences as efforts continue to bring the victims back home.
