Singapore authorities have officially handed over the autopsy report of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg to the Indian High Commission, confirming cooperation in the ongoing investigation into his tragic passing. The report reveals that the cause of death was drowning, following complications arising while Garg was swimming without a life jacket.
Garg had fallen critically ill during a yacht outing in Singapore, where he was participating in the North East India Festival. He was pulled from the sea and taken to Singapore General Hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead around 2:30 PM (IST) despite resuscitation efforts.
Assam’s government, responding to public demand for transparency, ordered a second post-mortem in India. Meanwhile, local police in Assam have lodged murder charges against Garg’s manager and festival organiser, alleging negligence and suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
