Swapna Kumbar , Bengaluru - Former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said Congress will now press the BJP-led government for accountability in Parliament over repeated paper leaks and exam irregularities. He said the government must apologise to the youth who were “subjected to lathi-charges and brutality” during the protests.

Hooda argued that the issue goes beyond one minister’s resignation and now needs a parliamentary जवाब on the broader failure of the examination system. He said the system must be made transparent enough to eliminate any chance of future paper leaks, reflecting the Opposition’s push for structural reform rather than only political blame.

His remarks come after weeks of unrest over alleged leaks in major competitive exams, including NEET, which triggered protests across the country and forced the government into damage control. With Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation already accepted, Congress is now looking to keep the pressure on by framing the controversy as a question of governance and student welfare.

Hooda’s comments suggest Congress will use Parliament to widen the fight beyond one resignation and toward a larger debate on accountability, transparency and exam reform. The paper-leak row now appears set to remain a major political issue even after the ministerial change.
