A horrific road accident in Gujarat's Surendranagar district on Sunday, August 17, 2025, has tragically claimed the lives of seven people, with three others sustaining injuries. The devastating incident took place near Dedadara village at approximately 3:30 PM IST, when a Swift Dzire passenger car collided head-on with a Tata Harrier SUV, triggering a massive fire.
Police officials confirmed to PTI that all seven occupants of the Swift Dzire were tragically charred to death inside their vehicle. Conversely, the three passengers travelling in the Tata Harrier were fortunate to escape the inferno, suffering only minor injuries. The collision immediately led to significant chaos and a severe traffic jam on the highway, as eyewitnesses reported.
Emergency services, including local fire brigade teams, police personnel, and a 108 emergency response team, rapidly mobilised to the accident site to conduct rescue operations. Local residents also rushed to the spot soon after the crash. Visuals captured from the scene depicted the grim sight of the charred remains of the vehicles involved. The accident has sent a shockwave through the local community. Authorities have since launched a full investigation to determine the exact cause of this catastrophic crash.
