New Delhi, August 22 — A major security scare unfolded on Thursday when a man attempted to scale the boundary wall of Parliament House in New Delhi. Security personnel on duty immediately intercepted him and took him into custody before he could enter the premises.
Officials confirmed that the man was spotted trying to jump over the wall near one of the entry gates. The incident comes at a time when security measures around Parliament are already on high alert due to ongoing political sessions and heightened threats.
The individual’s identity is yet to be officially released, though preliminary questioning is underway to ascertain his motives. Police sources said the man did not appear to be carrying any weapons, but his attempt has raised serious questions over security loopholes at one of the most sensitive government complexes in the country.
Soon after the breach, the Delhi Police and Parliament Security staff conducted a thorough search of the surrounding area. Additional deployment has been made, and security agencies are reviewing CCTV footage to trace the suspect’s movements before the incident.
This is the second major breach reported in recent months. Earlier, protests and unauthorised entry attempts had raised concerns over whether existing protocols were sufficient. Officials said an inquiry has been ordered, and stricter checks are likely to be introduced.
