Swapna Kumbar , Bengaluru - The Supreme Court has issued a firm directive to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), ordering the board to take effective steps and announce Class XII Improvement Examination results at the earliest. The court mandated CBSE to present a detailed plan for the purpose by Friday, regardless of the effort needed, noting that delays could seriously disrupt college admission processes for students in West Asian countries.
The Supreme Court bench, comprising Justices Manmohan and Vijay Bishnoi, directed CBSE to "burn midnight oil" to resolve the issue by the specified deadline. The court emphasized that effective measures must be implemented immediately to ensure timely result declaration, refusing to grant CBSE additional time for its response. The directive was issued after noting that delayed result announcement could adversely affect students' admission prospects to colleges in West Asian nations, where many Indian students pursue higher education.
CBSE had declared regular Class XII results on May 13, 2026, but Improvement Examination results remain pending. The court refused counsel's request for more time and insisted the board must submit a concrete solution by Friday to protect the interests of affected students. The matter involves students from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and other Gulf countries where CBSE maintains regional offices, and examinations in several of these nations were cancelled due to ongoing regional conflicts.
The Supreme Court's stringent directive underscores the critical importance of timely examination result declaration for students' academic futures. By ordering CBSE to prioritize this matter and present a actionable plan within days, the court has demonstrated its commitment to safeguarding students' educational rights against administrative delays.
