Actor Randeep Hooda is at the forefront of relief efforts as Punjab battles a devastating flood crisis that has affected thousands. The state has been hit hard by weeks of floods, with the city of Gurdaspur being the most severely impacted area, according to the Punjab government.
Hooda has joined relief operations on "ground zero" in Gurdaspur, working with the Global Sikhs NGO to distribute essential aid. The actor has a decade-long association with the organisation's founder and is actively helping provide comfort to affected families. Meanwhile, singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has also adopted ten of the most severely flood-affected villages in the Gurdaspur and Amritsar districts. He pledged long-term support, vowing to stand with the people of Punjab until normalcy is restored.
The crisis has seen widespread solidarity from the entertainment industry, with figures like Sonu Sood, Ammy Virk, Shah Rukh Khan, and Vicky Kaushal also pledging or voicing their support. The floods have impacted 1,655 villages and over 175,216 hectares of land, with authorities evacuating 19,474 people.
