Swapna Kumbar , Bengaluru - Controversial Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was released from Haryana’s Sunaria Jail in Rohtak on Tuesday after being granted a 30 day parole. Visuals of Ram Rahim leaving the prison premises surfaced online soon after his release, drawing renewed public and political attention due to the frequency of his paroles since his conviction in 2017.
According to reports, this is the 16th time Ram Rahim has received parole or furlough since being sentenced to 20 years in prison for the rape of two women disciples. According to his legal representatives, he will stay at the Dera Sacha Sauda headquarters in Sirsa during the parole period. Reports said he walked out of Sunaria Jail early Tuesday morning under security arrangements before heading toward Sirsa. His repeated paroles have frequently sparked criticism from opposition leaders and Sikh organizations, including the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, which has earlier questioned the timing and frequency of such releases. The latest parole has once again reignited debate around prison rules, political influence, and legal procedures involving high profile convicts. Ram Rahim was convicted in 2017 and has remained at the center of multiple legal and political controversies ever since.
The latest parole granted to Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has once again brought public scrutiny on the repeated temporary releases granted to the Dera chief. As reactions continue across political and social circles, the development is likely to fuel fresh debate over parole policies and accountability in high-profile criminal cases.
