India's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has sharply criticised Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir for his recent controversial remarks comparing the economies of India and Pakistan. General Munir notably stated, "India is a shining Mercedes coming on a highway like a Ferrari, but we are a dump truck full of driver," suggesting India would suffer in a collision.
Singh pointed out that Munir's statement has been widely trolled both globally and within Pakistan, viewed by many as a confession of Pakistan's own failures since both nations gained independence concurrently. The defence minister interpreted Munir's comments as indicative of a "tribal and predatory mindset" prevalent in Pakistan. This mindset, he explained, mistakenly believes that prosperous, modern nations focused on development – like India, with its respect for women and advancements in space – possess a weaker military tradition and fighting spirit.
Rajnath Singh unequivocally declared that India would shatter such misconceptions. He emphasised the critical need to ensure that alongside India's prosperity, culture, and economic growth, its defence capabilities and the resolve to fight for national honour remain equally robust. The Minister further urged that Indian youth should cultivate both scientific knowledge in areas like AI and space research, and a warrior's mindset to safeguard the nation.
