Poland tightened security on Tuesday after several Russian drones were shot down near the border, triggering concern over possible airspace violations. Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed that an “operation is ongoing” and announced an emergency meeting with senior security and defense officials to assess the situation.
Authorities have not yet clarified whether the drones entered Polish territory, but defense systems have been placed on high alert. The Prime Minister emphasized that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of citizens, while coordination with NATO partners is underway to address potential threats.
Fragments from downed drones were reportedly recovered in the region, though no casualties or major damage have been confirmed so far. Residents near the border were urged to remain cautious and follow official advisories.
The emergency session is expected to focus on strengthening border surveillance, reviewing intelligence inputs, and considering further steps to bolster air defense. With rising drone activity across Eastern Europe, Poland has reiterated its commitment to supporting Ukraine while preparing for any escalation that could directly affect its national security.
