Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Canada’s Foreign Minister Anita Anand on Monday, welcoming her first official visit to India and expressing that it would inject fresh impetus into India–Canada bilateral relations. Modi recalled his visit to Canada in June for the G7 Summit, where he held a productive meeting with Canadian counterpart Mark Carney.
In a statement, the Prime Minister underlined the significance of deepening cooperation between the two countries across sectors such as trade, energy, technology, agriculture, and reinforcing people-to-people ties. The meeting comes amid efforts from both sides to reset and strengthen diplomatic engagement, as Canada seeks to rebuild relations after strains in prior years.
