Washington – The FBI has reportedly seized multiple electronic devices and documents from former U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton as part of an ongoing investigation under the Espionage Act. Bolton, a long-time critic of former President Donald Trump, is facing scrutiny over the handling of sensitive government material.
According to officials familiar with the matter, FBI agents confiscated several phones, laptops, and written files during the search. Among the documents taken was a file labeled “Trump I-IV”, which investigators believe may contain information related to classified discussions held during Bolton’s tenure in the White House.
The investigation is focused on whether Bolton improperly retained or disclosed restricted information after leaving office. The Espionage Act, under which the probe is being conducted, carries serious legal consequences for unauthorized possession or transmission of national defense materials.
Bolton has not publicly commented on the seizures, but his legal team has indicated that he denies any wrongdoing. Supporters of the former security advisor argue that the move is politically motivated, given his sharp criticism of Trump in recent years.
This development adds to the growing number of high-profile cases involving the alleged mishandling of sensitive documents by former U.S. officials. The outcome of the inquiry could have major implications, both legally and politically, as Washington continues to debate accountability and transparency in the handling of classified information.
