Ananya Lohia , New Delhi -As on April 22, 2026, fuels rates across the country remained unchanged, Fuel prices across India have remained steady, offering relief to consumers despite ongoing volatility in global crude oil markets. Oil marketing companies have kept petrol and diesel rates unchanged across major cities, even as international prices continue to fluctuate. Retail fuel prices have held steady despite fluctuations in global crude oil markets and currency movements.
Three major oil marketing companies (OMCs) in India, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) , Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) revise fuel prices daily to align with global crude oil prices and foreign exchange returns. In key metropolitan cities including New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai, fuel prices have seen no revision in recent days. Petrol prices continue to hover around the mid-₹90 range per litre in Delhi, while diesel remains in the high-₹80 bracket.
The stability in domestic fuel rates comes at a time when global crude oil prices are witnessing ups and downs due to geopolitical tensions and supply concerns. Despite these external pressures, oil companies in India have chosen to maintain price stability, possibly to shield consumers from immediate impact. Despite volatility in global crude oil, petrol and diesel prices in India have remained largely stable over the past few years.
For now, the unchanged petrol and diesel prices bring much-needed relief to households and businesses across India. However, with global uncertainties still looming, consumers may need to stay prepared for possible changes in the near future continuing the extended phase of stability in petrol and diesel prices.
