Desk Correspondent , Tripura - There was a rally conducted by the Prime minister today in Assam to empower the people and encourage development in the north eastern regions of India. Modi has announced several infrastructural projects in Silchar, Assam. The total cost of which is estimated around 23,550 crore rupees. He also performed ‘Bhumi pujan’ ceremonies in Ambikapur, Silchar. Three projects were named today, the Silchar Town Flyover costing around 565 crore rupees, the Silchar High -Speed corridor, extending over 166-kilometer, for 22,860 crore rupees. It is expected to decrease the travel time from 8.5 hours to roughly 5 hours between Guwahati and Silchar, increasing regional economic growth and cross-border trade. And the final project will be the Patharkandi Agricultural College, to provide the students with high quality education without moving away from their homes, this project is supposed to cost 102 crore rupees.
During the rally, he was heard bashing the Congress government multiple times for not bringing infrastructural developments in Assam and the neighboring region, he mentions how they had neglected the north east for decades during their rule. He specifically talked about how the Barak Valley in southern Assam has grown into a vital link between India and Southeast Asia. Prime Minister Modi also added that "The forces across the globe that are unable to digest India’s rapid development, the Congress is increasingly becoming a mere puppet in the hands of these very forces.’’ He later went on to add, “Just ask the Congress leaders about this. Hand them a pen and paper, and ask them to write down Rs 24,000 crore, and they won’t even be able to do it.’’
The Chief Minister of Assam was also present at the rally, and during his speech, he said that "Elections in Assam are just around the corner. On behalf of the Barak Valley and the people of Assam, I wish to convey this message to the Prime Minister: The people of Assam will bring back the Modi government".
