Desk Correspondent , New Delhi - The Mohali police and the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) arrested a key operative linked to foreign-based gangsters during a joint operation near the Ghaggar bridge in Mubarakpur. The accused, identified as Ajay from Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh, was found in possession of a .32-calibre pistol and five live cartridges. He sustained a leg injury while attempting to flee from the authorities.
The arrest follows an investigation into a gangster module busted on April 18, where four individuals were apprehended with foreign-made pistols. According to SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans, Ajay acted as a local handler who supplied weapons and logistical support to the module under instructions from overseas handlers. Police officials stated that the suspect had been working for these foreign entities for about a year and was assigned multiple targets across the tricity area.
Authorities confirmed that the arrest has successfully thwarted potential criminal activities in the region. A case has been registered at the Dera Bassi police station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act. The investigation is ongoing to trace further links in the network.
