Ananya Lohia , Pune - A court in Pune district on Monday extended the police custody of Siya Goyal and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary till July 3 in the murder case of realtor Ketan Agarwal. Investigators told the court that further questioning was required to establish the exact crime scene and trace the victim’s missing passport.
The prosecution said the accused had visited the fort before the incident to identify a suitable location and that investigators needed to verify the spots used during the alleged planning and execution of the crime. Police are also probing the whereabouts of Agarwal’s passport, which Goyal is accused of disposing of during a trip to Mumbai.
Meanwhile, police took Goyal to Lohagad Fort on Sunday to reconstruct the crime scene. Using a dummy, investigators asked her to demonstrate how the victim was allegedly pushed and to retrace the route taken to the spot. Officials said the reconstruction exercise was aimed at establishing the exact sequence of events. Investigators also found that Goyal allegedly sat down before the push, both as a signal to her co-accused and to keep herself out of the victim’s reach during the fall.
The court accepted the prosecution’s request and remanded both accused to police custody until July 3 as the investigation continues.
